BIO BARRY HAWK:21st Century Troubadour Expansive, modern and anthemic, Barry Hawk's music combines present-day urban influences with traditional songcraft to create a sound that is at once classic yet totally fresh. Modern lyrical reflections are married to music that blends the best in rock, funk and hip-hop to create songs that are original, contemporary and accessible. Globetrotting Hawk has spent periods abroad in NYC, Barcelona, Turin and Copenhagen as well as plying his trade in his current base Ireland. He led various line-ups of his band Wonderland before going solo in 2009. Collaborating with Keith Moss and Sean MacLeod among others, Hawk has come up with a collection of anthems reflective of human yearning in the digital age. The social conscience of the title track is balanced by the carefree insouciance of "Funk Roc City". Ballads such as "Draggin" rub shoulders with hard rockers like "Download Me". "DJ"'s hip-hop influences flow into the power-pop spirit of "Do It Again" and the sing-along "Sleepin' In The Moonlite" is a camp-fire classic. It's the album's dynamism that demolishes dull demographics and blazes a trail all of its own. Displaying a daring, urgency and energy sadly lacking in today's bland music scene, Hawk is the vital sound of the cyber-generation. 21st Century Bluez out now on itunes and Amazon.
